MICHIGAN VETERANS FOUNDATION
MVF provides comprehensive social and educational services to over 1,200 veterans a year to help them turn their life around.
Since 1989, MVF has managed the Detroit Veterans Center, a transitional housing facility and resource center. The Center services are modeled on a “back to basics” military style to successfully transition military service members into civilian life.
MVF services are focused on residential stability (a prerequisite for employability), increased skill levels and income, and greater self-determination and well-being that comes from job retention and stable, affordable housing.
MVF is a recognized leader and innovator in providing at-risk and homeless veterans with housing and services.
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has recognized the Leadership of the Michigan Veterans Foundation Executive Director, Tyrone Chatman, for his leadership.
MVF has received the HUD John J. Gunther Blue Ribbon Best Practices Award
MVF has presented in Michigan and across the country on its unique approach to housing and comprehensive service delivery.
